Lorenzo "L.A." Auble has over 27 years experience as an educator, professional jazz musician, and band director. L.A.’s teaching style and enthusiasm has led to the growth of every program he has been involved with. Many of his students have gone onto professional careers in performance and teaching. He has a high commitment to all his students making sure everyone is learning while having fun.
L.A. is an award winning band director finishing 1st or 2nd at every marching competition, won Sweepstakes Awards in music along with Color Guard and Marching Band Championships.
Some of L.A.’s professional musician accomplishments include recording and producing his own Jazz Compact Disc Straight Ahead, Radio Airplay from KKJZ, KSBR, WDNA and playing live on KSBR. L.A. has also appeared on MTV.
L.A. holds a single subject teaching credential in music from California State University Long Beach and BA in Liberal Arts/Education from Concordia University, Irvine.
L.A. has performed with Buddy Collette, Ric Flauding, Lesley Gore, Harold Mason, The Rockin Rebels, Bobby Rodriguez, Richard Simon, Richard Street, The Supremes,
Al Viola, Bill Watrous and Gerald Wiggins.
L.A. performed at the Doheny Blues Festival, Lake Mission Viejo Jazz Festival, Catalina Bar & Grill, The Belage Hotel, Taste of Newport,
The Yellow Ribbon Christmas Special (Gulf War Special), Spaghettini Grill and Jazz Club, Jazz Bakery, The Baked Potato, Club Lingerie, The Mint, Blue Café, M Bar & Grill, Coach House - (Headliner & Opening Acts), Belly Up - (Headliner & Opening Acts) and MTV as well as many other local Southern California venues.
L.A. has opened for James Harmon, Poco, The Blasters, Phantom Rocker & Slick, Danny Wilde, Rick Springfield, Little Charlie & the Night Cats, Daryl Mansfield, Robert Cray, Kev Mo and Suzy Hansen. L.A. was the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award as a junior at Laguna Hills High School.
But all this doesn't mean anything if you don't improve on your first lesson...right? L.A. writes his own curriculum along with using well established teaching methods (Rubank, Fussell, Baker, Rothman), focusing on tone, technique, reading and overall musicality.
L.A. can teach you to improvise (solo) by ear and reading charts. If you can play a major scale L.A. can have you improvising (soloing) in 20 minutes or less.
